This American-style cafe roasts its own coffee beans, serves up strong cups and concocts great deli sandwiches. Hailing from the self-proclaimed new coffee-capital of New York, Cynthia Barcomi has clearly imported a bit of Big Apple flavor into Berlin, making this store (and its branch on Sophienstrasse in Mitte) institutions for bean-grinding aficionados.

Their impressive assortment of muffins, scones, cookies, bagels, plus carrot cake and devil’s food cake are only outdone by the seriously wow-inducing New York cheesecake.

With 13 different varieties of home-roasted coffee, Barcomi’s establishment especially cures morning zombies who need a shot of caffeine before evolving into proper humans.
