If for some reason you find yourself in Kampehl, visit the remains of knight Kahlbutz and his glass covered coffin.
Christian Friedrich von Kahlbutz (1651-1702) lived and died in Brandenburg, and is known primarily for the excellent state in which his body was preserved.
Turns out he was a pretty creepy dude in his 52 years alive, who went around exercising the “right of the first night,” (deflowering local virgins on their wedding night) and had upwards of 40 kids.
He was buried in the church, and during renovations in 1794, was discovered preserved in his coffin while all the other corpses had decayed. He was somehow naturally mummified, and has since been on display for tourists to see.
You can catch him at the church in the small village of Kampehl, a few km away from Neustadt / Dosse. Don’t worry if you don’t get around to it though, he’s not going anywhere.
