Completed in 1997 and designed by the architect Dominique Perrault, known for his design of Paris’ French national library, the Velodrom hosts a plethora of cultural events from sports to concerts. Originally built in the hopes of wooing the Olympic Committee for the 2000 games, Berlin lost to Sydney but gained a valuable venue.
