Quasimodo
The jazz cellar

Unlike Victor Hugo’s beloved Kyphosis-suffering creature, Quasimodo is a decidedly suaver affair already 34 years in the running.

It’s the city’s oldest jazz club, for one, located in a rather covert basement space under the Quasimodo cafe and Delphi film palace in a very grown-up part of town. Secondly, when the club blares, on invariable evenings, traditional jazz music as well as smooth funk and soul, Latin or blues, we can’t help but think of a sexier and more refined beast altogether.
