Exile was founded in 2008 by Christian Siekmeier and Robin John Berwingand who perceive art as a collaborative, inter-generational and overarching discourse and have focused on contemporary work in the realms of painting, sculpture, installation, performance and works on paper and prints.
Embedded in a complex web of socio-political, gender and personal histories—as much as in aesthetic theory and conceptual practice—the gallery’s manifold collection of art works range from the fragile, beautiful installations by Kazuko Miyamoto to the somber, radical performances and pieces of Stuart Brisley.
