The Cologne-transplant that is the Buchmann Galerie opened its doors in Berlin in September 2005, ten years after its inception. Its roomy space near Checkpoint Charlie inspired a spawn, the Buchmann Box, opened in October 2007 a few doors down and featuring exhibits of works on paper and site-specific installations.
The Buchmann Galerie took a liftoff with its acquisition of drawings by Tony Cragg in January 2008, serving as a reference for art cognoscenti and curators doing research on the famed British sculptor. Its roster of some 20 artists, most of whom are exclusively represented by Buchmann, stem from diverse backgrounds and includes the likes of Wolfgang Laib, Tatsuo Miyajima, Sean Dawson and Sergio Prego.
With a solid emphasis on solo-shows, the Buchmann Galerie also participates in international art fairs like The Armory Show in New York, Art Basel in Miami and FIAC in Paris.
