Berliner Ensemble
A Night Out at the Theater

Get to know more about Berlin’s new and eccentric theater scene by exploring the infamous Berliner Ensemble repertoire.

Claus Peymann assumed directorship in 1999. George Tabori, Luc Bondy, Peter Zadek and many others stage manage the house.

The classical repertoire includes Nathan der Weise, Schiller’s “Die Jungfrau von Orleans” and Shakespeare’s “Hamlet”. Bertolt Brechts is also treated with high value here.

The 2007/2008 season opened with Brecht’s “Dreigroschenoper.” Highlight of 2007 summer performances included the Berliner Ensemble playing all three parts of Schiller’s “Wallenstein” at the Kindl-Halle in Berlin’s Neukölln neighborhood.
