Ausland is a non-commercially run venue in Prenzlauer Berg that has established itself over recent years as one of Berlin’s most prominent spaces for the experimental arts. The team of organizers are clearly not in it for the money, their tireless appetite for providing a stage for challenging left-field works is driven only by their personal affection for art, guaranteeing that whatever events are happening will fully extend your cognitive abilities.
Located underneath a housing block in a concrete bunker, the pocket sized venue’s programming focusses on free jazz, improvised music and sound art as well as other ventures into wider artistic contexts including films and installations.
Expect an informed crowd who fully absorb the weird and wonderful performances on show. You will only pay a little door tax on entry (which goes straight in the artists pocket) and even less on the beer. Places like Ausland might not be around forever (anyone remember Tesla?). We recommend you use it whilst you still can.
