It’s no surprise that Bebel, inside the Rocco Forte collection’s Hotel de Rome, occupies the same building as the former 19th-century Dresdner Bank head office—Berlin’s glitterati and bankrolled alike congregate at its handsome wooden bar and inky leather sofas for late-night banter.

While most hotel bars in Berlin carry the stigma of being stuffy, Bebel bar reaches cosmopolitan levels closer to that of scene-y Claridges and St Martin’s Lane in London. The likes of Karl Lagerfeld, the ubiquitous TomKat and Brangelina and other Hollywood elite snub staid institutions like The Adlon in favor of Hotel de Rome’s expansive glass, Mediterranean-style interior.

Saunter in to sample their healthy range of premium spirits, like high-end Swedish vodka Level, or try one of the cocktails whipped up by expert mixologists that are so rich they could easily pass for a meal: a plum and basil daiquiri (muddled prunes, crushed basil leaves, Mirabelle plum liqueur and dark rum) is the syrupy manifestation of class.
