Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or simply curious about Spanish reds, whites and rosés, head to Vila Viniteca.
Since its opening in 1932, the store has remained well-stocked with a wine selection sourced from both big and small Spanish producers. However, Vila Viniteca is not beholden to its Spanish terroir. It also incorporates a number of foreign labels from other notable wine producing countries such as, Italy and France. Obviously, Spanish loyalists and curious palettes should sample the Catalan specials, including the Cava and boutique country wines.
The shop lives and breathes wine showcasing over 4,500 different wines, sherries, cavas, liquors and spirits, making it one of Barcelona’s leading wine specialty shops. If excessive browsing leaves you peckish, there is a deli store next door that sells gourmet goods such as cured meats, cheeses and other proper wine pairing staples. Come late October, the owners throw an annual street party, as lovely a fall fête as ever was.
