El Tomás is a legendary place, famous not only in Sarrià but in all of Barcelona. It reached such status not at least because of their incredibly delicious “Bravas” with its sauce whose recipe is a closely guarded secret.

The interior is nothing special, best described as high level Spanish purism with a dash of canteen atmosphere. But the people come here for the food’s sake and that, we can tell you, is extraordinarily good. The Catalan staff are obliging, adorable and very quick. El Tomás is a simple tapas bar entirely devoid of pretension that is always filled with people of all ages from the neighborhood.
