Plenty of places in Barcelona cater to animalistic urges, but the urge to actually see the animals (beyond city pets and rowdy tourists on Las Ramblas) is rarely satisfied. For a greater variety of wildlife, head to El Zoológico, which is conveniently situated by the magnificent Parc Ciutadella and Arc de Triomfe, and only a short walk away from the beach.
At El Zoológico, one can expect to encounter bottle-nose dolphins, leopards, tigers and crocodiles, to name but a few of the species living there. In fact, all the usual suspects are present, but the zoo is particularly known for its primates, and was once home to Snowflake (RIP), who, at time of discovery, was the only albino gorilla known to exist.
