The Barcelona Pavilion
Less is still more

This pavilion, constructed for the World’s Fair of 1929, is an iconic representation of the conceptual design characteristic of Mies van de Rohe.

Following the simple tenet—less is more—marble, steel and glass are arranged in beautiful simplicity, and designed to interact with elements of air and water. The structure follows a clear and precise geometry that has the effect of calming those passing through the architecture.
