L’Auditori is not only an impressive concert space, but also an exuberant postmodern statement; it is both a brave example of modernist architecture and dedicated preserver of classical traditions in music. Conceived as a resident venue for the Orfeó Catala choral society and Barcelona’s Symphony Orchestra, L’Auditori also hosts visiting classical artists. Not to be outdone on any other musical front, contemporary artists from a host of genres are also championed.
This ambitious and varied schedule is achieved thanks to three separate venues, with a combined seating capacity of around 3,200. All the spaces have been designed to give state of the art sound performance, so you can be certain that nothing will detract from the musical experience in store. The complex also houses the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya and Museu de la Música, educational facilities that once again attest to the supreme importance of L’Auditori’s varied contribution to the cultural life of Barcelona.
