Joan Miró opened this space in 1975 to give his hometown a place to see the latest in contemporary art.

Apart from the permanent Joan Miró collection, the foundation organizes exhibitions that showcase some of the biggest and greatest artists of the 20th century. Past and current exhibitions include solo shows of artists such as Olafur Eliasson, Kiki Smith, Rene Magritte, Sigmar Polke, Claes Oldenburg and many more.
