Fran Daurel´s Foundation opened its doors in 2001, featuring 220 works of Catalan contemporary art.
The gallery’s owner, Francisco Daurella, has been building his collection throughout the past 30 years, which includes pieces by Picasso, Tàpies, Millares, Riera, Dragó and Saura, displayed in his 1,500 square meter space.
While Durel’s Foundation houses some invaluably classic works, and Daurella himself was known for running in the same circles as Picasso, Miró and Dalí back in the day, the collector is focused on creating a platform for living Spanish contemporary artists. Daurella constantly tracks upcoming artists, looking at the present artistic climate, and appreciating form above all else. His discriminating eye continues to select an impressive catalogue of artwork, which is a treat to witness at this well curated space.
