The competition to design the Headquarters of the College of Architects of Catalonia, held in 1958, was won by Xavier Busquets. His realized design for CoAC, as it is more often called, is situated opposite the Barcelona Cathedral, one of the entrances to the ancient Roman city.
The administrative headquarters are located in the eight-story tower. At the building’s lower portion, a triangle-shaped stone wall was added, decorated on the outside with engravings according to drawings by Picasso.
CoAC features exhibitions on architecture and its related fields within national and international contexts. In the basement of the building, you’ll find an exceptional bookstore focusing on architecture and design.
