The Santa Mònica Art Centre is a public institution which has focused on Catalan artists and exhibited international artists through traditional mediums of painting, as well as newer disciplines of photography and design since 1988, when it opened with a show dedicated to “Surrealism in Catalonia”.
2003 announced the initiation of a new phase in the Center’s evolution, with an approach that revolved around a score of solo exhibitions and a wide array of programmed events and activities. Programming is based on transgenerational influence, a diversity of international art, research, and the use of contemporary art to generate discourse.
Santa Mònica Art Center programs some 20 exhibitions a year, most of them new productions.
