This cultural facility is located in a former factory for Casaramona, the yarn and fabrics manufacturer, designed by architect Josep Puig and Cadafalch in 1912.
Besides being one of the pioneering works of Catalan industrial modernism, today the factory is configured as an innovative cultural center with an auditorium, media library and one of Europe’s most important collections of contemporary art.
The Japanese architect, Arata Isozaki, is responsible for the building’s unique point of access: a sculptural element in the form of trees at the entrance that then heads into a passage extending to the courtyard as well as the lobby, located in the basement.
Here the artistic interventions of Sol LeWitt and Lucio Fontana establish a dialogue with the architecture, signaling the most characteristically modern area of the building.
You can also stroll around the forum’s old brick towers, where multidisciplinary conference rooms and workshops are located.
