Had enough of Amsterdam? Visit L’Affiche on the Jacob van Lennepstraat and take a trip to Paris. No fancy folk or high-end fashion here, just a simple Montmartre café with half a dozen tables, bare floors and a few barstools.
Aside from the name, there’s no real reason to label the bar French, since the bartenders are all Dutch, but it has an undeniably casual Parisian flair. Certainly the snacks or not francophone: besides the usual drinks you can sink your teeth in a hard-boiled egg. Nobody seems to know why, except that the bartenders claim it’s an old Amsterdam custom.
When you’re too lazy to go out clubbing, visit L’Affiche and take a load off. It seems to be a hangout for laidback locals, so it’s a good place to get away from the hustle and bustle, let your mind wander over the poster-filled walls, and dream away with a sip of the local Brouwerij ‘t IJ beer.
