Amsterdam, like almost every other corner of the world, has been overrun by the golden arches and other burger royalty, but there’s an indie place here that really delivers on the hamburger front. Surprisingly enough, the Getto is not only a great hamburger joint, it’s also a gay bar. Yep, a gay burger bar might sound slightly intimidating, but unless you’re extremely vegetarian or homophobic you shouldn’t worry.

Getto is a very welcoming, friendly place with a fabulous selection of cocktails and a menu that may be limited but contains some very tasty dishes. We can absolutely recommend the burgers, which come with a variety of toppings and sauces and are so tender and succulent that we could swear it still mooed with every single bite. The buns are a bit small, but the fries are good enough to compensate and you’ll be hard pressed to notice anything else than the incredible burger itself.

The Getto burger experience isn’t cheap, but if you drop by on a Wednesday, all burger dinners are €10. If you’re still not convinced: they also have a happy hour!
