With franchises all over the Netherlands, and 22 in Amsterdam alone, the FEBO truly has become a Dutch cult fast food chain, developing an odd following of even international fans.
The company started during the occupation in 1941, as a bakery on the Ferdinand Boistraat called Maison FEBO. Even if its food options are nothing special, and not as good as more indie friteries, their business format is unique.
Though you order your fries and drinks at a regular counter, their other fast food options are behind little windowed doors that open when presented with the right amount of change. For a few euros you can pull out your kroket (don’t forget to douse it in mustard, it’s free!) or the other mystery meat option, the frikandel.
