This old dock on the NDSM Werf is used by 250 artists working in the fields of theater, film, media, architecture and design. Although the restaurant is a little off the beaten track, Noorderlicht is a great getaway from the city especially when the weather is holding up. It’s a perfect way to spend a late afternoon chilling with pals or enjoying the live music on offer.
The food is always fresh and delicious—stemming from a menu that changes with the seasons—and offers a variety of prices, so you can decide if you want to stay on a budget or splurge a little. The desserts are to die for, so order whatever the season dictates and you won’t be disappointed.
Just take the ferry North to NDSM, enjoy the wind through your hair, the grungy beauty of bygone industry and the terrace’s view over the IJ. Just make sure you don’t miss the last ferry back to civilization.
