Boom
Sunday morning cure-all

Ernest Hemmingway’s ‘A Clean, Well-Lighted Place’ is a much cherished short story that reads as an ode to cafe culture. Future film adaptations should take note: Boom could be the perfect setting. Its long, railway car-style layout comes alive with incandescent hanging light fixtures, and bright sprays of flowers and greenery. A welcoming space suggests itself as the ideal Sunday morning hangover cure-all, or an indulgent location for a pre- or post-stroll in the neighbouring Oosterpark.

If it’s a proper high-tea you’re craving, sate your inclination with fresh-mint brew and a thick slice of homemade bread. The ever-changing menu offers a strong lineup, and Boom’s appetizing spread of spring salads and cheeses makes a perfect, terrace-side snack. Mediterranean wines and a small selection of specialty bottled beers are also available.
