Even though this coffee shop is located on one of the main tourist thoroughfares of the city, it has managed to resist being turned into a McCoffeeShop. The tables are inlaid with chess and backgammon boards and there’s a comfy corner in the back covered in pillows that’s perfect for mellowing out to the groovy tunes that come courtesy of the playlists of the equally chillaxed staff.

Just don’t doze off while cruising on that high, as they are quick to remind you that “it’s not a hotel, buddy!” As long as you don’t interfere with their fanatical Scrabble matches, you’ll stay on their good side. Be sure to sample their prize-winning “Cheese Weed”, which apparently has earned its name because it smells as potent as a mature French cheese, left out of the fridge for a spell.

It’s also possible to get your buzz by inhaling vaporized fumes through a balloon, bypassing tobacco entirely, but you might not want to take it out into the street if you don’t want to look like a really stoned birthday clown. The black light bathroom is an attraction all of its own: Not only does it make your visits there extremely surreal, it also provides a number of amusing/terrifying anecdotes. Just ask the staff.
